Today is the beginning of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence, which each year sends a powerful worldwide message that gender-based violence violates basic human rights. Events begin today, November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and continue through December 10, International Human Rights Day.

CA Court: Domestic Violence Programs Must Serve Men, But Not with Identical Services
In mid-October, California’s 3rd District Court of Appeals ruled in Woods vs. Shewry that state-funded domestic violence programs must provide services to male as well as female victims. A close look shows that the ruling supports the practices that most shelters and domestic violence agencies use today and allows programs to provide different services to male and female victims.
